Sotera Defense Solutions is seeking a System Administrator and Remote Monitoring Network Administrator (SARM) to support and enhance the Video Surveillance Unit (VSU) Mission within the FBI’s investigative efforts in the Counterintelligence, Counter terrorism, Criminal Investigative and Cybercrime Programs to support our customer in Quantico, VA.


Qualified candidates must possess an active Top Secret clearance.


The SARM Network Administrator will:

  •  Provide technical support of network devices through analysis and troubleshooting tools and providing solutions.
  •  Provide ongoing network support, addresses availability issues, overcomes performance problems and provides overall level 2 support.
  •  Manage network performance, diagnoses performance problems and undertakes tuning activities to ensure network performance meets SLR requirements.
  •  Troubleshoot and resolve problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network.
  •  Report on overall network performance including frequent problems, underlying issues and plans to improve network availability, performance and problem resolution.






  • Must possess and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical discipline and 5-8 years of experience.
  • Minimum two years of industry experience in implementation, and technical support of network devices (Routers, Layer 3 switches, or Firewalls).
  • In depth knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and relevant Layer 2 & Layer 3 networking protocols (ARP, 802.1q, STP/RSTP, IPSEC VPN, etc).
  • Experience with network Operating Systems such as Cisco IOS and/or Cisco ASA.
  • Experience with network analysis/troubleshooting tools such as Ethereal/Wireshark.
  • NMAP, and basic ICMP commands.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a high degree of self-motivation.
  • CCNA Certification (required) and CCNA Security Certification (preferred). 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in supporting Cisco ASR routers, switches, wireless AP’s, and networked servers.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining IPSEC and SSL VPN solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • Able to work with moderate supervision.
  • Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to communicate technical information to customers with varying skill levels.
