Join our DCGS-A Integration and Tools Team responsible for the build, installation, and integration, and support of mission-critical systems and software.  The Integration and Tools Team designs, codes, tests, and enhances software solutions of vendor’s product and custom solutions, and makes recommendations for its configuration, operation, and future design.


As a Automation Engineer, you will work individually and as part of a team to develop solutions to automate the build and installation of software solutions into a configuration managed baseline.  The position requires the creation and application of technology to monitor, control, and enhance the build and installation of solution. Automation engineers design, program, simulate and test software solutions and processes in order to complete exact tasks.  The Automation Engineer is responsible for design specifications and other detailed documentation of their creations.  Additional duties include:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand, plan, design and engineer solutions to automate software build solutions
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand, plan, design and engineer solutions to automate the installation of distinct software solutions
  • Develop and engineer capabilities to reduce overall time needed to deploy and configure software solutions to managed baselines
  • Support and contribute to Integration efforts through the development automation of scripts and automated workflows
  • Author and edit detailed technical documentation
  • Participate in Configuration Management and Change Management activities, supporting overall organizational goals and expectations to manage all systems, software, and documentation within a managed environment
  • Develop automated solutions to manage and track installation performance, time, and other key metrics
  • Engineer solutions designed to increase the overall security posture of the system
  • Troubleshoot and provide resolution of problems reported against the system by testers and users
  • Test system and software performance throughout the entirety of the development cycle, and analyze results to report findings to stakeholders


Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree specifically in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other Engineering or Technical discipline and 3 years of professional work experience (or 3 years’ experience in place of a degree)
  • At least 2 year of experience in Linux / UNIX coding (preferably Solaris and Red Hat), including compiled languages
  • At least 2 year of experience in Windows coding, including PowerShell and compiled languages
  • Experience with performance profiling of systems, applications and functions in terms of multiple metrics (e.g. memory, storage and CPU utilization, time)
  • Understanding of networking technologies
  • Must be self-starter, willing to take complete ownership of complex technical problems
  • Should be able to think clearly and articulate with appropriate level of abstraction his/her thought process on complex technological issues
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certified--baseline security certification (e.g. CompTIA Security+ CE) and technical computing environment training or certification (e.g. Server+) prior to start of work
  • Top Secret // SCI Clearance Required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience with DCGS-A family system
  • Experience developing utilities in a MS Windows environment
  • Use of industry standard tools for software authoring, debugging and performance profiling (e.g., Eclipse, Visual Studio)
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize virtualization technologies (preferably VMware) in a development and testing environment
  • Experience with industry standard configuration management tools (e.g. Team Foundation Server)
